Katie Holmes is ready to make her mark in the fashion industry by presenting her line, Holmes and Yang, for the first time this September during New York Fashion Week. With all eyes on her, celebrity stylist Derek Warburton is weighing in on how the actress, 33, can stand out from the celebrity fashion elite like Victoria Beckham.

Noting that the brand â€" which includes simple and chic daywear, evening wear and handbagsâ€" was launched in 2009, the stylist admits Holmes has an advantage.

“It isn’t like this is her first ever collection. Her fashion line been out there, so no one should necessarily be shocked,” he told Celebuzz of the women’s clothing line, which is a collaboration between Holmes and her longtime stylist Jeanne Yang. The line is characterized by simple-yet-chic pieces that are very much in line with the actress’s personal style.

But is that enough to launch her line as a household name?

“I haven’t seen the new collection to judge it… but perhaps this year, the line will be more avant garde,” Warburton said, adding that Holmes “needs a wow factor.”

The former Dawson’s Creek star â€" who reportedly reached a divorce settlement with Cruise â€" recently filmed an episode of Project Runway: All Stars, but insiders say that might not been enough to make her line a household name.

“Victoria Beckham is a style icon. Everyone wants to be her and dress like her. If Katie can make that big of an impact, which she hasn’t done yet, she might keep the collection from being a dud,” said Warburton, who will debut Tragic Glamour at the Pop International Gallery in New York on Wednesday.

“To be successful in the fashion industry, she needs to be a risk-taker. She needs to live and breathe her line.”

“She needs to stop being a simple, well-dressed mommy and start being a fashion icon â€" on and off the runway â€" to make women want to be her.”
