The Rachael Ray Show, popular for delicious and simple recipes, has also been a valuable source of information for fashion, beauty and health with the help of on-air guests and experts. Wednesdayâs episode of Rachael Ray featured her fashion buddy and celebrity stylist, Gretta Monahan, offering advise on choosing suitable under garments for todayâs fashions and provided style basics for common body flaws.
Bra basics
According to Gretta, a strapless bra doesnât always work for everyone and everything, and for todayâs fashion, there is an abundance of options to suit any style while providing coverage and support. Â
Rachaelâs fashion expert offered a simple solution for selecting a brassiere: the bigger the girls, the more bra that is needed. For strapless and open back dresses, A to B cups can use pasties, B to C cups are fine with sticky cutlets, C to D can wear a backless bra with molded cups such as Victoriaâs Secret Style Secrets U-Plunge Backless Push-Up Bra, and D+ sizes require fuller coverage. Bra-fitting tip: always try it on before leaving the store.
Hiding the tummy bulge
Even thin women gain a pooch over time and want to hide the extra baggage from multiple births and a loss of muscle tone that comes with age. Undergarments that shape and conceal, such as classic bike shorts, shape wear and Spanx, will smooth, shape and slim. Gretta suggests matching the undergarment with the silhouette of the outfit. If the dress has an umpire waist, it will require and umpire shaper such as the Cass Luxury Shapewear Contour Thong.
Enhancing inadequate body features
Some women want to increase the derrière, maybe not to the extent of certain entertainers, but some want a little extra lift and cushion in the rear. During Grettaâs style school segment, she suggested Spanx Simplicity Booty-Booster Shorts to enhance the buttocks with a natural look.
Victoriaâs Secret can be found on Long Island in Bay Shore, Dix Hills, Hicksville and Oceanside, among others. Spanx and Cass Luxury Shapewear are both available at Bloomingdales located on Long Island in Garden City and Huntington Station.
